Jack Osbourne revealed that he was able to share the news of his wife Aree Gearhart's pregnancy with his father, Ozzy Osbourne, before the legendary musician passed away in July.
Expecting his fifth child, Jack shared the happy news in an interview with The Sun on Sunday. He and Aree are already parents to three-year-old Maple, and Jack has three daughters — Pearl, 13, Andy, 10, and Minnie, 7 — from his previous marriage to Lisa Stelly.
Aree is currently seven months pregnant, meaning Jack was able to inform Ozzy of the pregnancy before the rock icon's death after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Jack described the pregnancy as a "healthy distraction" and a source of healing amidst the family's grief. He told The Sun, "It's awesome. I think it's been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing – probably in that kind of 'full cycle' category, in a weird way. It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked in a bit more hopefulness."
Jack added, "We're super-excited. It was sort of planned, I should say. It was maybe a little earlier than expected. But it’s definitely something that we were wanting to pursue and somehow it happened, miraculously."
The Osbourne family honored Ozzy on what would have been his seventy-seventh birthday on December 3rd with a tribute on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A floral arrangement and heartfelt plaques from his children and widow, Sharon Osbourne, adorned his star. Jack also spoke about his father in a YouTube video, describing him as "deeply complicated" yet insightful and aware.
Ozzy Osbourne, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, shared Jack and his sisters Aimee and Kelly with Sharon Osbourne, and had three other children with his ex-wife Thelma Riley. The family continues to cherish Ozzy's legacy while looking forward to welcoming a new member into their lives.
