Ed Sheeran has been named the most-played artist in the U.K.!
According to The Guardian, Sheeran topped the list of music played across the U.K., radio, TV, and in public places for the seventh time in nine years. The list was compiled by music licensing company PPL.
This honor for Ed kept his pal, Taylor Swift, from her first shot at the most-played title in the U.K. Taylor landed at No. 2, a jump from her 2023 ranking at No. 10.
“Thank you for naming me the most-played artist for last year. Thank you to my team, not just for me, but for all the other artists you work with – I’m happy that you get this recognition,” Sheeran said in a statement.
Dua Lipa was No. 3, Calvin Harris No. 4, and David Guetta rounded out the top five.
Ed Sheeran is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his album “X (Multiply)” which was released in 2014. It featured the singles “Sing,” “Don’t,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “Bloodstream” and “Photograph.” The Anniversary edition drops this Friday (June 21).
