King Charles Honors Tina Turner with Musical Tribute at Buckingham Palace

King Charles III honored the late Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, with a musical tribute last Friday.

The newly crowned monarch had the Band of the Welsh Guards perform her 1989 hit “The Best” during the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace.

In the centuries-old ceremony, the King’s Guard hands over responsibility for protecting Buckingham Palace and St. James’ Palace to the New Guard.

King Charles first met Tina in 1986, when she performed at the Prince’s Trust All-Star Rock Concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.

"The Best" holds special meaning to the royal family.

In a December 2021 episode of Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series, Prince William revealed that his mother, Princess Diana, would play the song for him and his brother, Prince Harry, while she was driving them back to boarding school.
