A bill that would ban foods like Pez, Campbell's soup, Skittles, and Sour Patch Kids due to their chemical additives has passed in the California State Assembly.
The bill targets five food additives considered harmful. Three of the five substances have already been banned in the European Union with companies using different ingredients in order to sell their products overseas.
The five chemicals, which includes red dye 3, have been linked to cancer, reproductive health harm, behavioral issues in children, and harm to the immune system.
If signed into full law, companies would be required to change their recipes in order to sell their products in California.
