After close to 6 decades on WXII-TV (NBC), the soap opera "Days of our Lives" is going to NBC's on demand network "Peacock". It has ran for 58 seasons! Some see it as putting the show out to pasture. It's being replaced by NBC News Daily starting in the Fall.
Cool, more news.....
Peacock already airs past episodes of "Days" (as fans call the show) and has previously aired Days' spinoffs as well. NBC execs say that this move enables the network to build the show's loyal fanbase on streaming.
Personally, I'm bummed because Mom would always have the show on in the background when I was home for the summer or home sick....she always claimed she didn't watch it but it would usually be on at 1pm on Weekdays....so it's the end of an era in that regard. I gotta admit, they have good cosmetic surgeons for those soap actors & actresses. Some still look the same as they did when I was a kid....HOW?
This programming change only leaves 3 soaps on Broadcast TV, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless on WFMY-2 (CBS) and General Hospital on ABC 45.
The move is set to take place September 12th.
