Pulitzer Prize & Academy Award Winning Classic comes to Asheboro January 28th-Feburary 13th
Asheboro, NC – RhinoLeap Productions announces its run of Driving Miss Daisy at the Sunset Theatre located in Asheboro. This co-production with Temple Theatre is currently running in Sanford, NC before arriving in Asheboro next week. The project is directed by Temple Theatre Artistic Director Peggy Taphorn. Peggy is an award-winning actress, choreographer and director who has worked on Broadway, London’s West End and on national and international tours. The role of Daisy is performed by Lynda Clark who has performed on stage and screen for over 30 years. The role of her Chauffer, Hoke, is performed by Phillip Bernard Smith. Phillip proudly got his start at the North Carolina Black Repertory Company and since performed in theater all over North Carolina. Michael Jones rounds out the cast as Boolie. Michael began his career in Pittsburg, PA and performed across the United States.
Based in Asheboro, RhinoLeap is one of the fastest growing arts organizations in the state. We produce live theater and dance in multiple counties and hold after school educational residencies in North Carolina Public High Schools. Our digital media projects include a new series for PBS North Carolina called Making North Carolina that focus on entrepreneurs from across the state, a weekly radio show in the Piedmont Triad called Our Stories Told Here that focuses on musicians and writers, and a documentary series produced by the Black Empowerment Network telling the stories of North Carolina’s living black leaders.
