Marco falls apart, Laura now a hurricane headed to the Gulf Coast

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The double-trouble nature of the two tropical systems in the Gulf has ended.. Marco is now just a post-tropical low pressure system. The 5 am advisory was the last one to be issued on Marco. Goodbye Marco! Now all eyes are on Hurricane Laura that is in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Laura is now forecast to become a powerful and dangerous category 3 hurricane..

Marco fell victim to some harsh winds blowing at the storm from the southwest. This tilts the thunderstorms and blows others to one side of the storm, leaving a disorganized system.

Hurricane Laura is now in the southern Gulf of Mexico and could be a significant concern for Texas and Louisiana. Laura is expected to continue gain strength before landfall Wednesday night or Thursday morning

It is currently forecast to become a strong category 3 hurricane with winds near 115 mph before making landfall Wednesday or Wednesday night.
