GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Prepac Manufacturing, Ltd. will expand in Guilford County bringing more than 200 jobs. The company plans to build at Rock Creek Park.
Recently, Guilford County Commissioners voted 7-0 in favor of incentives to bring the furniture manufacturer to the county. Prepac plans to bring 201 new jobs with an estimated salary range of $45,000 a year.
"The beautiful thing here is these are jobs. These are jobs that will mean a new job for somebody, a step up for somebody, a better job, a first job. So, great hope in the middle of a pandemic," said President and CEO of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Brent Christensen.
Christensen said the shell of the building is already complete and hiring will likely start once the inside construction is done.
Christensen said the furniture market is doing very well right now, another benefit to having the manufacturer choose Guilford County for its expansion.
"The furniture market, especially for companies like Prepac, seems to be doing awfully well in times of COVID, as we’re buying new desks for work from home or were buying a new entertainment center so it seems like everyone’s really focused on their homes and nesting," said Christensen.
Prepac Manufacturing, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia is one of the largest producers of RTA furniture.
