Nazareth’s Annual Fun Fest Cancelled

Nazareth’s Annual Fun Fest Cancelled, But New Car Raffle, Drive Thru Meal Will Go On As Scheduled

Car Show, Other Events Will Be Rescheduled For Fall

For the first time in over 100 years, Nazareth Child & Family Connection’s Annual Fun Fest will not be held this year, a victim of the COVID-19 crisis.

But event organizers have worked hard to salvage many parts of Nazareth’s largest annual fundraiser, which had been scheduled for June 6.

The new car raffle, always one of the most popular parts of Fun Fest, is still being held. A new 2020 Toyota Corolla SE or $10,000, donated by Cloninger Ford & Toyota, along with other prizes, will be awarded on June 6 during a live drawing on social media.

Tickets for the raffle may be purchased by visiting www.nazcfc.org or texting FFTickets to 72572.

“With a commitment to everyone’s safety and wellbeing, there just wasn’t any other choice for us but to cancel or postpone this year’s event,” said Vernon Walters Jr., president and CEO of Nazareth Child & Family Connection. “Fun Fest has been such a huge part of Nazareth for 113 years. It’s fun for the community and our staff and residents. It’s a chance for us to show off our campus. But we’ll come back next year bigger and better than ever.”

The spirit of Fun Fest will be kept alive on June 5-6 with a drive-thru barbeque dinner on the Rockwell campus. For $10, a barbecue plate dinner consisting of a barbecue sandwich, two sides, dessert and a drink may be purchased. There will also be a “family” option with four barbeque plates for $35.

Delivery for essential businesses or larger orders will be available.

There will also be a hot dog meal available for $5, which includes one hot dog, chips, dessert and a drink.

Preordering of food is encouraged. Orders may be made by visiting www.nazcfc.org or texting BBQ4Naz to 72572.

Also, food orders may be made via mail to: Nazareth Child & Family Connection, ATTN: BBQ 4 Naz, PO Box 1438, Rockwell, NC 28138. Please indicate how many meals you would like and if they are to be donated to essential workers and first responders.

The annual car show, always a staple of Fun Fest, will be moved to the fall with a date to be announced. All current registrations will be honored for that show. Also, the kids’ zone, vendor show, silent auction and basket auction will be moved to the same date.
