GREENSBORO, N.C. — Storms aren't a guarantee on Thursday, but the WFMY News 2 Weather Team says we should be ready during the afternoon and evening hours to be safe.
"It's an either or setup," explains Chief Meteorologist Tim Buckley. "There's a chance we could remain cool and rainy, or we get warm enough to pop these storms that could get quite strong."
On Thursday, there will be yet another strong system moving across the Southeast bringing the risk of damaging winds and tornadoes. It will start in Alabama and Georgia and Tennessee before moving toward the Carolinas by the late afternoon and evening.
It's possible there could be two lines of storms; one in the early afternoon that is likely to be south of us, and another in the evening which we would need to watch more closely.
TIMELINE:
- Morning through 3pm: Clouds and on & off rain. Mainly cool. No severe storms.
- 3pm through 2am: Watching for possible t-storms. Some could occasionally be strong or severe.
- 2am to Friday morning: Drying out with rain ending.
