GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina was hit by nine different tornadoes as severe weather swept across the state Monday morning. The twisters ranged in intensity and stretched from central NC all the way to the Atlantic coast.
The National Weather Service performed storm surveys on Monday and Tuesday to confirm the damage. The go to the storm location and analyze trees, homes, etc. to see how powerful the winds likely were with the storm.
There were 5 EF-1 tornadoes (winds between 86-110mph), 6 EF-0 tornadoes (winds 65-85 mph), and 1 EF-2 tornado (winds of 125 mph).
