Greensboro – Beginning Monday, March 23 at 6 a.m., people will not be allowed to visit friends and relatives in Cone Health hospitals. This is to protect patients and staff from spreading COVID-19.

There are only a few exceptions to the no-visitor restrictions.

  • Laboring women – regardless of age – will be allowed to have one person with them for their entire hospital visit. That one person can be a spouse, partner or doula.
  • Two parents or guardians will be allowed to visit children under 18.
  • Exceptions can be made to allow a total of four people to visit those nearing the end of life. People should talk with the patient’s nurse about these and other situations.

Cone Health appreciates the public’s support in these extraordinary times. Cone Health will provide tablet computers to help people stay in touch with loved ones.

While these restrictions apply to hospitals, Cone Health also asks that patients only bring one support person with them to receive other medical care such as cancer treatments and prenatal check-ups.

Cone Health reminds people of the importance of frequent hand washing, covering coughs and social distancing. Those who have COVID-19 symptoms should call their doctor or make a virtual visit. Virtual care options include on-demand video calls e-visits and scheduled video visits.

Cone Health has been working with national, state and local health agencies as well as local, county and state governments to prepare for COVID-19. For more information about COVID-19 and the signs and symptoms, people should go to theCenters for Disease Control and Prevention’s websiteorwww.conehealth.com/coronavirus.
