Lovely Luna

Luna is a 17 pound, 9 year old Rat Terrier mix who was found as a stray. She is a good weight and seems to have healthy joints and can spring up easily onto a chair or lap! She has a cute little old lady face but her body looks youthful and fit. She has a short tail, Jack Russell length.Luna acts like she has spent most of her life in a good home. She is very comfy hanging out here with us in the kennel offices and has not had any potty accidents so might be house trained. She keeps her crate clean. She is affectionate and loves being around people. As soon as she realizes you are a new friend, she becomes cuddly and likes to roll over for tummy rubs.Luna is submissive and friendly to new people. She easily sits on command and is super treat motivated. Luna is not used to children and is intimidated by them and frightened. She needs to be in a new home without active young ones running around and making her nervous. She has been fine around the other little dogs here and has an easy going attitude. However, she is so enticed by yummy treats, she will dive in to get any she sees, even if it near another dogs mouth (no aggression at all, just wants the treat!!), so, if paired with another dog in her new home, the other dog should not be food protective.Luna would be perfectly fine as your beloved only dog and would love to be spoiled, but she could also share a home with your current easy going dog. Just do not expect Luna to be a playmate. She is more of a peaceful companion. She does love to take walks and is pretty good on the leash. She does potty nicely for you while out on the leash. She showed no initial interest in toys but is now going over to the toy basket, pulling out select toys, carrying them away and then dropping them. It is so cute and funny to see her interest peaking even though she is still not sure what to do with the toys. We are betting she will figure it out soon enough! We got Luna a dental (17 teeth pulled) along with her spay, and she is all ready to come home with you. Her neglected mouth feels so much better!!! She is so happy to see everyone each time we come back in the room that we know she will be your true and faithful friend and snuggle bunny.Luna loves being with people so much that she has some separation anxiety when she is left alone. She really wants to be your right hand gal and constant companion, if you will let her and will bark her unhappiness when left crated for long periods. She should not be adopted by someone living in an apartment. She dreams of living with a retired couple or anyone who would be home much of the time or else take her with them when they go out.
