Nehemiah Center’s “Golfing for Good” Virtual Golf Tournament/Fundraiser
The Nehemiah Community Empowerment Center is pleased to announce their 1st annual “Golfing for Good” Virtual Golf Tournament. Come enjoy the fresh air on either of these beautiful courses: the Grandover Resort or the Starmount Forest Country Club. At the same time, help support your local community! Top players will be given awards supplied by Awards of Excellence. The pandemic may have affected and stopped the economy, but not their mission.
Nehemiah’s mission is to empower and enrich lives for under-represented individuals. Their mandate is to help decrease the educational inequity, financial inequality, eradicate hunger, and the social disparities that exist in the communities they serve. Through their various outreach services, they are transforming and changing lives every day.
For the past 13 years, the Nehemiah Center has provided STEM & Robotic exploration to at-risk youth and teens. Creating career awareness and now creating jobs. They’ve also started a great initiative “Phenomenal Women in STEM” which focuses on providing training and certification for women in non-traditional careers. The Nehemiah Center is in the capacity building stage and is now a Registered Apprenticeship Employer-Partner with ApprenticeshipNC. Their training program is unique in that they provide hands-on training and I.T. certification to Guilford County residents through their partnership with NCWorks & GuilfordWorks. This will enable participants to attain the hands-on real world work experience needed to attain full-time employment.
