GREENSBORO, N.C. — Tropical Storms Marco and Laura are heading toward the Central Gulf Coast of the United States between Monday and Thursday morning. Laura could be a category 2 hurricane while Marco is forecast to be a strong tropical storm.when they strike, delivering a truly punishing blow to coastal Louisiana. Texas, and Mississippi.
Tropical Storm Marcois up first. On Monday, Marco is in the central Gulf of Mexico. It will continue to move northward with a and turn slightly northwest angling toward coastal Louisiana by Monday. The current forecast has it as a tropical storm until landfall.
Tropical Storm Laura will be a day or two behind Marco. Currently, moving along the southern coast of Cuba, the storm will move into the Southern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday. Once in the Gulf, Laura is expected to gain strength and become a hurricane. It is currently forecast to become a category 2 hurricane with winds over 100 mph before making landfall Wednesday or Wednesday night.
