Sue Hampton Hometown Hero

You'll love the story of how Ed and Sue met!

Sue's husband Ed wrote this about her:

Sue is an Occupational Health Nurse for the Cone Health System. She works in Employer Health. Despite two potentially career-ending knee injuries last June she returned to doing what she loves, taking care of the employees in the Cone Health System. Sue is 68 years old and could easily be retired. She is currently serving on a committee tasked with approving all of the N-95 masks used by the employees. She is also maintaining the CAPRs and PAPRs (self-contained personal respirators) used by the doctors and nurses. On several occasions, not on duty, she has gone to Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Alamance Hospital, and Annie Penn Hospital to maintain the equipment and train the doctors and nurses. Her cell phone rang at 11:30 p.m. last Saturday. The call was from a nurse at Moses Cone Hospital who urgently needed Sue's advice. As she always does, she cheerfully assisted her.

She is the recipient of the Nursing Excellence Award and the Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina Award.

Sue is also a volunteer firefighter with Pleasant Garden FD. Sue is a very strong-willed, independent woman who truly cares about OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF.
