Former U.S. Senator Kay Hagan Of Greensboro Dies at 66

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Kay Hagan, former U.S. senator of North Carolina, has died at the age of 66, according to the News and Observer. 

Hagan is from Greensboro and was elected to the Senate in 2008 but lost her seat in 2014. 

She was hospitalized in December 2016 for brain inflammation caused by encephalitis, a virus spread by ticks.
